Tri-Luma Cream is the only FDA-approved melasma treatment that contains three active components that are uniquely blended and more effective than therapies that only contain two.
TriLuma Cream is a novel triple-combination topical medication for the treatment of dark spots associated with moderate-to-severe facial melasma over a short period of time (eight weeks).
Fluocinolone acetonide 0.01 percent is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
Hydroquinone 4 percent is a depigmenting chemical that helps lighten the skin by interfering with the development and synthesis of melanin.
Tretinoin 0.05 percent helps exfoliate the skin by boosting the rate of skin cell turnover.
TriLuma Cream should always be used in conjunction with UV protection, such as sunscreen and protective clothing. Melasma can be improved with Tri-Luma Cream, but it is not a cure.
Melasma is treated with a cream containing the medication combination fluocinolone acetonide/hydroquinone/tretinoin
When does Tri-Luma Cream begin working?
Tri-Luma Cream (fluocinolone acetonide 0.01 per cent, hydroquinone 4 per cent, tretinoin 0.05 per cent) is used to treat moderate-to-severe melasma of the face for up to 8 weeks. It’s not meant to be used for a long time (more than 8 weeks) or to keep melasma symptoms at bay.
Patients in tests saw relief in their melasma as soon as 4 weeks after using Tri-Luma Cream. Most patients saw some improvement after 8 weeks of treatment with this Melasma Cream. Some people’s dark spots disappeared completely (38 per cent in one trial and 13% in another), but most people’s melasma returned once treatment was stopped.

Interestingly, I had used Pigmanorm which is a stronger retinoids formulation with less effect than this formulation,so I am delighted with the product. Also, it caused much less irritation and flaking and peeling in fact it was minimal. I think I can stop using it now and was considering how to maintain this excellent result.

For Tri-Luma, I bought this product as an ‘upgrade’ from 1% Tretinoin in a big to combat some pigmentation I have under my eyes. After research I found that the 3 ingredients (particularly Hydroquinone) was the gold-standard in fighting post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun damage and melasma. I have been using this for one week and I have to say the pigmentation has literally disappeared! 5*

I’ve tried everything, like lasers, cryotherapy and chemical peels with my dark spots but only tri-luma lightens them. It’s not completely gone but much better. It says only use for 6 weeks but on my experience I have to use it everyday now to maintain it.
